Introductions

OHSAS 18001 is Occupation Health and Safety Assessment Series-a UK based management system for occupational health and safety. It is intended to help an organizations to control occupational health and safety risks. It was devloped in response to widespread demand for a recognized standard against which to be certified and assessed.

OHSAS 18001 has been developed to be compatible with the ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) management systems standards, in order to facilitate the integration of quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems by organizations, should they wish to do so.

The Lead Auditor for OHSAS 18001:2008 is a competency-based 5-day course that teaches the principles and practices of effective Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) process audits in accordance with this standard. The students are guided through the entire audit process, from managing an audit program to reporting on audit results. The course uses effective methods of learning through a formal classroom tutorials, practical role-playing, group workshops, and open forum discussions.


Course Objectives

The objective of the OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor Training is to train potential auditors to the principles and practices of assessment of OH&S systems for conformance with OHSAS 18001:2007, to make them aware of good current OH&S practices, and to encourage constructive development of audit skills, thought analysis and self-criticism.
